Snow by Night

In this week’s Almanac, I discuss the Nations of the Liranequois. Together, these five nations form the Great Longhouse. I’m continuing to draw inspiration from the Haudenosaunee and I am fascinated with the concept of basing the government off the structure of the longhouse. It emphasizes the confederation as a family structure. This is a drastic shift from government as divine right or the three estates that were prevalent in Europe at this time.

Oh, Monday is Labor Day and a holiday. I’ll be out with family. No update on Monday. We’ll be back on Wednesday.
