It makes me wonder what the plural of “chimera” was, in the original Old Greek.
I like how you show that war is not a pretty thing.
Mme de Carailles isn’t going to like this. Things are going far too well. Even if the invaders finally conquer the colony with overwhelming numbers, General D’Epeset has put up a spirited and skilful resistance and come away with her Gloire intact. I’m sure Mme de Carailles would prefer that the campaign was a complete disaster, so she can step in to save the day.
