Daughters of the King Page 7
November 8th, 2011Page 7 of the Daughters of the King is up. This concludes our tale of colonial love. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for following this vignette with me. And my thanks to Amy for writing the script and to Shazzbaa for her fantastic artwork. If you haven’t checked out Shazzbaa’s webpages, you really should read Today Nothing Happened and Runewriters.
Next Monday we resume our main story. For a preview of the cover of Chapter 3, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
I know I’m about 3 1/2 years late, but why is Blaise’s hair darker than the rest of his family? The laws of genetics say that a child with dark hair cannot come from parents with light hair, meaning either genetics work differently in Corthis or maman really wanted that 50 Eci.
Well, genetics are more complicated than hair color being determined by a single gene. There have been cases of darker-haired children born from lighter-haired parents. (Same thing with skin color variation.) Here’s a quick example of one gene that we know affects pigments.
I don’t think that’s necessarily what Eric or Shazz was thinking about when they designed the characters, but it is genetically possible in the real world! :)
I apologize. I haven’t gone over genetics since High School Biology I three years ago. I suppose I should have done some research before questioning you.
I would not have seen that!… But thanks to Half Moon I’m now more pumped up to see the rest of the back story and get to the cliff Eric and his team so kindly left us hanging on.
So this is Blaise’s back story? It’s really sweet that we get to see the characters as children
Blaise’s backstory? Whatever would make you think that?
….the last name on the tombstone. It’s a bit of a give away for those of us looking ;)
Cookie for you for noticing! I should mention that Blaise only appears on the second-to-last panel on page 7. And even then, he’s obscured from sight.
Which one is he? The kid in the dads lap, or the one with big eyes looking over mama’s shoulder?
Neither. There’s a third option on that page.
oh, so he’s the baby of the family?
