Almanac – Sherbourg Map
February 19th, 2016Hello everyone! This week’s installment to the Almanac is the map of Sherbourg. This is a WIP. You get to see my pencil sketch on graph paper. My next step is to ink it in PS and draw in all the little buildings. Then I’ll ask Steph to help me add some color to it otherwise you’re just going to get flats. My last step is lettering.
The map of Sherbourg will be the last addition to the Almanac. I’ve pretty much covered everything I want to cover at the moment. I hope you enjoyed it. It’s going to stay up, and I’ve hidden lots of little hints and tidbits about the story in there. But at this point, I want to devote my time to writing more chapters. If I can get more buffer built up, I can increase posting from 2 pages a week to 3. And that is a goal I want to hit this year.
The Sherbourg map will continue to update after I get the Ch13 script done. When that is finished, my updates are M-W for a few months. If all goes as planned, I’ll switching to page updates on M-W-F starting with Ch14.
Almanac – Aradie Map Update
January 29th, 2016I finally got all the snow out of the driveway and off the sidewalks and I had some time to work on the maps. So I present to you the updated map for Aradie! Now with a scale, compass rose, and more places labeled.
Almanac – Japethe Map Update
January 15th, 2016I took another pass at the Japethe map this week to update some of the names, include a few more regions, and add in a mileage bar. Next week, I’ll update the Aradie map. Have a great weekend everyone.
Almanac – Everique Map Update
January 8th, 2016This week’s Almanac entry is an update to the Everique continent map. It now has a mileage scale on it and a whole lot more place names. I’m treating the maps as a work in progress. I expect to update them repeatedly as the story progresses. Have a great weekend, everyone.
Almanac – Aradie Regional Map
December 18th, 2015This week’s Almanac entry is the regional map of Northeast Everique. So you can see where all the places are in relation to each other. Aradie is to the north with Liranequois to the southwest. Varre and Neerpelt are to the south. Elakanois didn’t make it on this map, but it’s just to the west.
Holiday break is here! I’ll be back on Monday Jan. 4 with the next page, which will explain why the Governor General won’t grant his daughter’s request. Happy holidays every one!
Almanac – Japethe Map
December 11th, 2015This week’s Almanac entry is the map of Japethe. This is the Old World and the location of Morante, Japethe, and Kleef. I had a lot of fun designing this map, twisting history and making up divergences as I was sketched in mountains and rivers.
I haven’t thought out the other continents yet. Curtis has 8 continents instead of our 7. So there’s plenty more to explore. It might be a while before I get to those. The story I’ve chosen focuses on Japethe and Everique. Next week — a map of Aradie.
Almanac – Council Fire
November 19th, 2015This week’s Almanac entry is the Council Fire. These ceremonial fires are lit at all major meetings and negotiations of the Liranequois.
Only 1 more page to go in the vignette — The Peacemaker and the Tree of War. That goes up on Monday. Then I’ll be taking the rest of the week off for Thanksgiving. We’ll begin with Chapter 12 on Nov. 30.
Almanac – Clan Matron
November 12th, 2015The Almanac entry this week is Clan Matrons! These are the true rulers of the Liranequois, who govern through soft power. They don’t make the decisions directly, but they appoint those who do. They’re also the faithkeepers of the Liranequois, giving them enormous influence.
I’m glad I was able to get this entry written. I took a tumble down the stairs earlier today and wrenched my knee something good. Ow ow ow. So it’s been me and an icepack on the couch all day. Now why did this affect my writing. Well, I bought Fallout 4 since I’m on immobile and on the couch…
