Almanac – Distant Smoke

Eric wrote this and next week’s Almanac entry before setting off on vacation so that we’d still be able to keep to our usual 3/week update schedule. From the pattern, you can probably guess that next week’s entry will also feature a Liranequois Cast member – Defiant Elk.
Almanac — Toothy Kit
August 6th, 2015This week’s Almanac entry is Toothy Kit. She also shows up on the Cast page. She is the first of several Liranequois character to join the cast page. She’s proven fairly popular among the readers so far. I’m glad of that, because we’re going to be seeing a lot of her.
Almanac – Medicine Lodge
July 16th, 2015This week’s Almanac entry is the Medicine Lodge. These small structures protect the rest of the community while those sick heal.
In other news, the book proofs arrived. They look beautiful. Ignore the goofy-looking redhead in the picture and focus on the lovely book.
Almanac – Carved Masks
July 9th, 2015This week’s Almanac entry is Carved Masks. These masks are not a theatre prop, but a connection to the spirit world for the natives of Everique. When they wear these masks, they become something more or something else entirely. So naturally, the colonists put them in museums.

I’ll be working on Volume 2 while Julie draws Chapter 11. Expect lots of updates over on the Kickstarter campaign. Also, I’ll be at AwesomeCon next weekend with the Reverie crew. We’re at Booth 900.

Almanac – Wakes-with-a-Roar
May 7th, 2015The discussion of manitou continues in this week’s Almanac with Wakes-with-a-Roar. This mighty bear spirit is a fierce protector. Unfortunately, she is not a match for the firebird at its place of power.
I finished up the script for Chapter 11 today. Whew, this was a rough one. I’m really late with it, and I think Julie might be about to crown me. But in Chapter 11 we pick up Blaise’s story among the Liranequois. Or will it be the Liranequois’ story that Blaise has wandered into. Either way, it’s a different culture with a lot of new characters. I wanted to make sure I did the research to do it properly.
