Snow by Night

Long day working the polls. It started at 4:45 a.m. and ran to 9 p.m. Our precinct made me proud with 80% turnout. I’m heading down to Florida tomorrow so instead of a page we have a piece of amusing fan art by Rachael Hixon of Tangent Artists. We’ll be back to our normal schedule on Friday. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

Hello everyone. As you can see from the title for this post, our colorist isn’t back up to speed yet. She went to the hospital last Friday and was diagnosed with mono. Good times! So she’s started treatment and feeling better, but she hasn’t been able to finish a page for us. Instead, we have another art trade for you. This is Snow Dance by Jen Zyren Smith of LaSalle’s Legacy. Thank you, Jen. You’re a gem. Jen; Gem. It’s almost a rhyme. Regardless, please join me in wishing a speedy recovery to Naty. We’ll see what she can get done by Wednesday, but her health comes first.

So the plague has swept through the virtual offices of Snow by Night. Diane, Brittany, and Naty have all come down with the death-flu. I suppose it was my own fault for making the curse term of choice in Sherbourg be “Peste,” which means plague. Anyway, please accept my apologies, but we don’t have a page for you today as Naty is just not able to focus to color. We’ll try to have the page up as our Friday update, but the death-flu is strong stuff. We might not have it ready until Monday. I’ll come up with something else on Friday if that happens.

Instead, we have a lovely piece of fan art from Julie Wright. She is the incredibly talented illustrator for Ianua and The Dreamer. We met her at Intervention and I was blown away by her talent (“Nothing funny. I just like talent.” [Gold star if you can name the quote source]). An art trade was in order, and she gave us this great picture of Jassart.

Hi everyone, Diane here! Instead of Eric’s usual Almanac update, today we have a new piece of fan art to add to the Extras page. Please take a look at the lovely piece by Christina Major here. You guys have no idea how giddy it makes me to see fan art of my favorite girl – though Snow-by-Night has been creepin’ up on that award. We’ll see if you agree in the coming pages.

Hi everyone – it’s Amy!

With Eric, Britt, and Diane at Otakon and Natalie on vacation, I’m the only member of Team Snow left to do the update!

Today’s update is a fantastic piece of fanart by Yan “Kern” Gagné of Drowtales. Go read the comic! The art is beautifully detailed, and the story is rich and compelling.

Speaking of story, I don’t know if you can feel the train starting to pull away from the station, but I can. Eric likes to tell his stories with a slow build. He wants to place all his pieces on the board and try to make the reader (or players, in the case of his roleplaying campaigns) love the setting as much as he does. I know I have my own personal bias here, but Eric is one of the best storytellers I have come across, and I’m so glad you’re all along for the ride with us.

Our 7th and final piece from our Fan Art Rendez-vous is A Spirit of Snow and Ice, a submission from the incredibly talented Eren Fitzgerald, the artist of Tamuran. I have long been a fan of this epic fantasy tale. The art is amazing and the storytelling is top-notch.

The last page of Law of the Riverside part 1 goes up on Wednesday. We begin Chapter 4 “What No One Expects” next Monday. Until then, Happy Easter everyone.

Our fan art installment this week is Blaise and the Arctic Fox by Whitney Delaglio. Whitney is the creator of Prism the Miracle, which has always struck me as what happens when you cross a webcomic and modern art. It’s lovely stuff.
