Daughters of the King Page 6
November 6th, 2011Almanac Reference: Eci
Page 6 of Daughters of the King posted. The tale of colonial love continues. You may notice the disconnect between the narration and the events depicted by the art. One of the themes that Amy wanted to bring out is the tension between our past as it occurred and the stories we pass on to our children. Or in other words, “Grandma did what?!”
If you want to see the inside of a habitation (colonial farmhouse) in Aradie from the next page of the vignette, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Daughters of the King Page 5
November 1st, 2011Page 5 of Daughters of the King is up. It’s the Dating Game – colonial style! I can see it now…
(musical introduction)
Contestant #1, if you had to skin a deer, what type of knife would you use? Contestant #2, tricorne or voyageur’s cap? Contestant #3, what’s your favorite type of canoe – birchbark or dugout?
New vote incentive. To see the first glimpse of the inside of the Temple of Giavere, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.

Page 4 of Daughters of the King is up. Girl meets city; city meets girl. I tried to imagine what it must have been like to walk down the gangplank to a horde of frontiersmen who haven’t seen much in the way of women in years. I figured mass chaos.

Daughters of the King Page 3
October 25th, 2011Page 3 of DotK is up. In 1662, the Daughters sail the ocean blue. Shazzbaa based the ship off the Golden Hind – the galleon that Sir Francis Drake used to sail the Atlantic and the Pacific in the Age of Discovery. Since the greatest sailors in Corthis (Snow by Night’s world) are from the Freeports of the Kennard Reach, and the Freeports are based off of England (if England developed as a confederation of city states instead of a monarchy), it seemed only appropriate to have the ship be of English design. Besides the Golden Hind is a beautiful ship.
This week’s vote incentive is the panel where boy meets girl for the first time. Check it out when you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Daughters of the King Page 2

The second page of Daughters of the King is up. This story of love on the colonial frontier is an homage to the 770 women who immigrated to New France under royal sponsorship. The program was called Filles du Roi. They even have a non-profit organization La Société des Filles du roi et soldats du Carignan. It’s things like this that makes me love this time period so much.
To see one of the many perils of trans-oceanic travel in the Age of Discovery, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.

This week I’m starting a vignette titled Daughters of the King. This short story (it’s 7 pages long) was written by our editor Amy Menge and illustrated by the immensely talented Shazzbaa. For those of you who don’t know her, Shazzbaa is the creator of Today Nothing Happened and Runewriters. She’s a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design and an avid gamer. I was overjoyed that she was willing to do this project for me, and the results were everything I hoped for. Please enjoy our tale about love on the colonial frontier.
Oh, for the vote incentive, you can see the Daughter of the King herself. Vote for Snow by Night on TWC.
Chapter 2 Page 28
October 16th, 2011Almanac Reference: Giavere’s Gaze
Chapter 2 page 28 is up, and this completes Chapter 2. The trap is sprung and the merrie little doe is caught. Brittany is busy drawing Chapter 3 “Heartless” as we speak.
Until that gets started, I have a fantastic surprise for you. The chapter 2 vignette is drawn by the incredibly talented webcomic artist Shazzbaa, creator of Today Nothing Happened and Runewriters. She has illustrated the vignette Daughters of the King, which tells the story of the brave women who traveled to Aradie. This 7-page short story was written by my editor Amy Menge. The first page goes up on Wednesday. It’s beautiful, and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.
For a preview of Shazzbaa’s lovely art, please vote for Snow by Night.
Feathers and Frost – Page 7
June 28th, 2011The seventh and last page of Feathers and Frost is now up. This concludes our first vignette on Snow by Night. My thanks to Eric Schneider for a job well done. His ability to draw birds made this story come to life. He’s a fantastic artist and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him.
Next week, we turn back to the main story with Chapter 2 “The Trap.” The first page will go up on July 6. We’ll be ramping up to two pages a week shortly after that. Until then, the Top Web Comics incentive is a preview of Cienan yr Tuathal. Blaise was dreading a visit with Cienan. See him for yourself with a vote on Top Web Comics.
