Chapter 3 Page 24
January 31st, 2012And I’m back! My thanks to Brittany and Diane for covering for me while I was away. They did such a good job that I might sit back and let them do more of the journal entries in the future.
I was at Fort Wayne, Indiana since last Wednesday, attending DDXP. In case you don’t know by now, I’m a huge fan of D&D. I’ve played it for years, I’ve written countless adventures, and I even have a few published articles with Wizards of the Coast. The boundless potential of the game intrigues me and I love letting my imagination run amok. Anyway, Wizards is coming out with a new edition of the D&D game. The Wizards staff came to the convention and offered playtests of the new edition. I have to say that I like what I saw. The base mechanics are simple yet flexible. It was fast and fun. And there was so much laughter at the table. Kudos and thanks to Teos Abadia and Greg Bilsland for running my tables.
New page! Chapter 3 Page 24 is up. Blaise makes an offer that he may later regret. And there’s a new vote incentive. To see a preview of Blaise and Jassart’s aside, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics. It’s a new month, so all the votes have reset to 0. We have a chance to make a play for the top 25. Thank you for your support as always.
Chapter 3 Page 23
January 30th, 2012Chapter 3 Page 23 is up as Snow believes she’s explained everything rather well and then finds out how wrong she is.
Oh, this is Brittany by the way. Eric was at a convention this weekend so it’s my turn to introduce the next page. We’re so close to finishing up Chapter 3 that I can taste it, and it taste like a nap. In a warm fuzzy blanket. I miss sleep…
I’m currently working on Chapter 3’s page 25. While typically we (the Snow by Night team) like to have more pages done in advance things keep getting in the way. Like sudden unexpected moves, people ramming into your car and consequently having to get that repaired, and other small not-speaking-from-experience-in-the-past-month examples that pop up from time to time.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported, commented and voted for Snow By Night. It means so much to know people like what you do and want to see more.
Sentimental mush out of the way… Now go vote! :D
~Brittany
PS: Don’t forget to check out and join our Twitter. Eric will post updates and relevant information while I usually tweet sleep-deprived gibberish.
Example: “Dear Brittany, Do not stick your fingers in the toaster. It is hot. Love, your conscious.”
Site Updates
January 27th, 2012Hi everyone! Webmaster Diane here, covering for Eric while he’s away at DDXP. He asked me to make a bunch of site updates in his absence, so you’ll notice a number of them going up steadily tonight. (I keep getting distracted while chatting with Eric about the fun stuff he’s doing without me at DDXP!)
Firstly, the Creators page is getting a much-needed update to include bios for our Contributors. Eric’s also written a summary for Snow by Night to briefly explain our story to new visitors. We’ll be changing the page name to “About” once I wrestle the code into cooperating.
The next big update is our convention schedule. I’m currently formatting the schedule and it should be up later tonight. You can see it at the bottom of the right-hand sidebar on all of our pages besides Story pages.
And finally, the pages from Chapter 2 that Eric tweaked during preparations for our printer should be showing up now. I’m sorry for the delay – this is what happens when you keep a webmaster up for two days with no sleep… Thankfully, our deadlines for the printer are over now, so I can sleep again! Well, except for right now, since I’m updating the site. And this weekend when I’ll be drafting our online Store. And – oh jeez, nevermind. Sleep is for the weak!
P.S. If you have any suggestions for our site design, or notice any problems with a specific browser you’re using, please feel free to drop me a line at webmaster@snowbynight.com. I have a lot of big plans for the future of the site, but I’m always eager to hear more ideas. Thanks for reading!
Chapter 3 Page 22
January 25th, 2012Chapter 3 Page 22 is up. Father Winter sends Snow-by-Night forth on her quest to find her heart.
This weekend, I’m off to DDXP where I’m going to talk to the designers of the next generation of D&D. It should be a frabjous time (callooh, callay!) I’ve asked Diane to sub for me on Friday. That means no Almanac entry this week. Instead, Diane will be making some additions to the web page. In other convention news. Snow by Night will be attending VA Comicon. We’ve also applied to Pittsburgh Comicon, Animazement, HeroesCon, and Small Press Expo. I’ll let you know when we get confirmed for those conventions.
And finally, the vote incentive! With page 23, we return to the current day. See Blaise and Jassart’s initial reaction to Snow-by-Night’s story, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Chapter 3 Page 21
January 22nd, 2012Chapter 3 Page 21 is up. Snow-by-Night manifests with the help of Father Winter. To see Father Winter doing what he does best, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.
In preparation of Katsucon, we’re preparing to print Chapter 2, which involves me going through every page and formatting it for the printer instead of for posting to the website. When I do this, I always find little things I want to improve and this time was no exception. These changes usually aren’t major. I tweak the position of a balloon here, I change the size of a sound effect there. The one exception was page 26 of Chapter 2. I was never entirely happy with Blaise’s comment when Snow jumped over the banister. It just doesn’t fit the art well. So I’ve changed it to something more appropriate.
Almanac – Manitou
January 20th, 2012This week’s Almanac entry is the Manitou – the nature spirits of Everique. We have already encountered three of them – Snow-by-Night, Father Winter, and Chugan. And there may be more in the future.
Chapter 3 Page 20
January 17th, 2012Chapter 3 Page 20 is up. Snow-by-Night returns to Father Winter.
In case you didn’t see my comment on Friday’s Almanac entry, I just had another article published by Wizards of the Coast for their Dungeons & Dragons brand. It’s a description of Suzail, the capital of Cormyr in the Forgotten Realms. You can download the article here. You do have to be a member of D&D Insider.
To see a preview of Snow-by-Night receiving her manifestation, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Chapter 3 Page 19
January 15th, 2012Chapter 3 Page 19 is up. Can Snow-by-Night talk her way out of becoming a prize for the First Crow?
To see what becomes of those two stones of perfect clarity, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comic.
Also, Katsucon is rapidly approaching. Snow by Night will be there in the artists’ alley along with brand new printed copies of Chapter 2.
