Almanac – Malsum
July 12th, 2012Honestly, that Eric – always running off to conventions without me! Next time I’ll sneak into his trunk with my pet monkey. That’ll show him.
Anyway, while he’s at Connecticon this weekend, I’ll be handling today’s Almanac update in the Mythic Beings chapter of People. As some of you predicted, our entry focuses on Malsum, a manitou that Snow-by-Night instinctively fears.
What I want to know is where all the happy manitou are. Can our next Almanac update have the manitou of rainbows, or maybe the manitou of group hugs?

I’m back! It was a great trip down to Florida to see the family. Strangely, it was also cooler in Florida than in Virginia. And not by a little. My thanks to Britt and Diane for covering for me. You two are awesome.
Anyway, Chapter 4 Page 26 is up. Blaise makes a run for it, but the dogs are after him. Are the dogs barking in French? Yes. Yes, they are. To see what Jassart and Snow-by-Night are up to, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Connecticon is coming soon! I’m really excited about this convention. This is our first time up in the Constitution State and Britt and I are really looking forward to it. You can find us in the Artist Colony (colony – I like that) at table AC-21.

Chapter 4 Page 25 is up! Snow-by-Night finds a problem in Jassart’s perfect plan. Nevermind that she’s the one causing the problem.
To see exactly what Snow-by-Night is so afraid of, please vote for us on Top Web Comics!
I love Jassart’s line on this page. “Oh, stab me in the eye.” I’ve been there, Jassart. Those spirits are always getting in the way of proper planning with their unpredictable phobias!
On an unrelated and personal note, my friend is no longer in the hospital, and he will be able to fully recover from the car accident he was in, though he’ll be stuck in a wheelchair for a while. Thanks again for understanding my delays with the site updates while I was with him.
Almanac – Alchemical Compounds
July 5th, 2012Ah, it’s Brittany here. Eric’s out of town so I get to commandeer the journal entry for today. Today is about Alchemical Compounds. O.o
Fun fact: Alchemy used many symbols that people can recognize today. Symbols of the planets (all you Sailor Moon fans out there know them. Don’t lie! You know you do!) and the zodiac were all incorporated in alchemy. If you go back to where you first meet Bertrande you can spot the signs for Leo, Sagittarius, and an alternate sign for the metal Copper among others. Each of the elements had a Glyph created for them using traditional alchemy signs and symbols, the occasional rune, and of course some good, old-fashioned Geometry. Gotta love the circles. C:
If you’ve been by the table at cons you’ve seen that we’re now selling prints and buttons of the elemental glyphs. They’ll also be available in the store once it’s up. You can also get a preview of them here on my DeviantArt page.

That wasn’t a shameless plug… really… it wasn’t… I mean, you don’t have to look it’s just… oh, nevermind.

Chapter 4 Page 24 is up. Blaise and Jassart find something beautiful. Snow-by-Night is NOT impressed. To see a peek at the escape from the manse, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Our next convention is rapidly approaching. Britt and I are headed up to Connecticon on July 13-15. It’s going to be a great time. It’s also Bastille Day. Come celebrate the day and buy a comic book set in a fantasy version of Nouveau France.

Chapter 4 Page 23 is up. Blaise gets to work on the Siegneur’s chest. It is fortunate for him that Snow-by-Night is with him. To see a glimpse of Wednesday’s page, vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Our next convention is Connecticon on July 13-15. It’s going to be a great time. Come see us.
On a side note, there’s a Kickstarter project I wanted to tell you about. Lee Garvin has created a fantastic card game titled Badass Zombie Killers. This competitive card game makes getting ready for the zombie apocalypse an exercise in fun. Do you have your zombie apocalypse plan ready?
