Sun-in-Splendor
July 11th, 2013Hello again! This is Diane, reporting in for update duty while Eric and Brittany are at Connecticon this weekend. In place of the usual Almanac update, we are previewing another of Julie Wright’s wonderful prints! This is Sun-in-Splendor, the spirit of summer. Eric sent me a lovely poem he came up with on the long drive to Connecticon that I thought I’d share alongside the preview:
How bright she burns with eyes like tawny amber
and hair wreathed in a crown of radiant fire.
She chases the sky with leonine grace;
With boundless strength she soars ever higher.
If you like what you see, you can pick up a print of the spirits of the seasons at Otakon 2013 or our other future conventions!
We return on Monday with Page 2 of Chapter 7, which you can take a peek at early by voting for us on Top Web Comics. If you’re at Connecticon this weekend, please swing by and say hello!
Chapter 7 Page 1
July 9th, 2013And so Chapter 7 “I Know What’s Best” begins with Page 1. Is that Mathilde? Snow-by-Night with Jassart? Is this a love triangle? What’s going on? All in good time, gentle reader. To see a preview of the next page, please vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics.
Brittany and I are off to Connecticon on Thursday. Wish us luck! We hope to see you there.
Dancer-in-the-Dawn
July 7th, 2013Hello everyone! It’s Eric and I’m back from London. It was a wonderful trip and I greatly enjoyed our travels. I am a huge fan of audio-tours. You know that Jeremy Irons is the voice for the English language audio tours at Westminster Abbey? It was like Scar from Lion King is talking to you about British history. It was awesome. So many great experiences. The kitchen tour at Hampton Court was great. I spent an entire day at the Tower of London, crawling all over every corner of it. I even saw the dreaded dungeons of the White Tower where they tortured people. The dungeons are still used for torture today because that’s where they keep …. the GIFT SHOP!
I hope you all enjoyed the vignette Winter Fantasy, illustrated by Julie Wright. She’s pretty good isn’t she? Would you like to see even more of her work? Well, you’re in luck. Julie is working on a set of prints for me. This set of four prints are the Spirits of the Seasons. You’ve met one spirit: Father Winter. Snow-by-Night has referred to the spirit of Summer: Sun-in-Splendor. Allow me to introduce, in the preview above, the Spirit of Spring: Dancer-in-the-Dawn. These prints will be available at Otakon in August.
Late-breaking news. Snow-by-Night has been invited to join Connecticon’s Online Media Guest Hall. They’ve got quite a selection of fabulous webcomic quests. So we’re in good company. It’s this coming weekend.
Winter Fantasy Page 10
July 2nd, 2013And with Page 10 of Winter Fantasy, our vignette comes to a close. It becomes clear here that it was Blaise’s imagination that turned his window doodles into a musical fantasy drawn in frost for all of us to share with him. Next week, we begin Chapter 7 – take a peek at the cover page by voting for us on Top Web Comics for a glimpse of what is still to come.
Since we prepare our updates on the night before an update day, we will not be updating this Friday so that our staff can enjoy America’s Independence Day. We hope you enjoy July 4th, whether you’re celebrating the same holiday or not, and we’ll see you here next week!
