I’m proud to be working with Lee Francis of Native Realities to make this convention a reality. It’s going to be a great gathering of native artists and their fans. I’m really looking forward to it!

I love canoeing so the idea of paddling down the river for days on end sounds like fun to me. I love how nimble and resilient the boats are. You slice through the water quickly or just let the current carry you along. They are a brilliant invention of the First Nations. At some point this summer, I want to drag the rest of the team out to the Shenandoah River. It’s a great river for paddling.

June 20th, 2016Toothy Kit leads the way as Snow-by-Night heads south on Chapter 13, Page 12! Hurray for Adventure! When you vote for Snow by Night on Top Web Comics, you’ll see a downside to camping when you’re made of snow.
Steph and I are heading back from Denver Comic Con. This has been an amazing show. We’ve met great artists and a lot of wonderful comic fans. We’re only bringing one set of the Volume 1 chapters home!
We also got to meet with Lee Francis, the organizer of Indigenous Comic Con. We’ll have some more announcements about that soon, but for now check out their site. They’ve got some great guests and more are on the way!

June 13th, 2016Defiant Elk speaks with Distant Smoke on Chapter 13, Page 10. Grandma runs this town. She does it through the soft power of advice, relationships, and respect. This style of leadership works well for small communities and is intensely personal. A less capable grandma could spell disaster for the community.
In Chapter 14, we’ll see some of the power dynamics in Sherbourg. Things don’t run as smoothly there. However, its power structure is based on law, tradition, and institutions. A weak leader is not as detrimental to the entire community, as the society has other forms of support. There are always trade offs in governmental structures, and it’s not one-size-fits-all.
