I’m starting to get very excited for the Wonder Woman movie. The idea of setting it during World War I was sheer brilliance. Nothing shows the horrors of war like trench warfare, and Diana will gleam like a star against the mud of the Somme.

May 3rd, 2017We found the supplier of Defiant Elk’s books! Willem is a factor (a type of agent with a lot of autonomous authority) for his yet-to-be-introduced employer. Follow the money; even on the frontier. The relationship of the Dutch… I mean Kleefish… and the natives was grounded in trade. Willem and Elk’s relationship is based on this reality.
Willem is Aphrike-Kleefish and comes from the Kleefish colonies in Antillia, which are sometimes called the Isles of Dread because of the horrific cruelty of the plantations, the wood-eating water worms, the heat, the storms, the insects, and the prevalence of malignant disease spirits that lurk there. That Willem is a factor in Zollhaven means he’s a long way from where he started.

I’m going to run a Kickstarter for Volume 3 coming very soon. I want to send Volume 3 printed in June so that I can have it for the big August conventions. I expect to make announcements about this in the coming weeks.
Steph and I are attending Balticon at the end of the month! It’s a great sci-fi, fantasy literary con. If you like those books, you should really attend.
Revised Chapter 1
April 26th, 2017Hello everyone! We have less than a week before I come back from our break, but I have an early surprise! Naty Baaklini, who colored chapters 4 through 12, also went back and recolored Chapter 1 to make that chapter more consistent with the rest of the story. You can find the new colored pages starting here. They are lovely.
Next month is going to be very busy for us at Snow by Night as I launch several initiatives that I’ve been working on since my surgery. One of those will be a Patreon campaign. April 5th, 2017The parley comes to an end. The Kleefish flag and its director diminishing in the distance as their influence in Everique wanes.
I’ve hit a wall. Because of my cancer bout, I was late getting the script to Julie, and she’s doing back-to-back conventions at the moment. I’ve now run out of pages. I was hoping to avoid that, but here we are.
I have a vignette in development by Lakota artist Kristina Badhand about Defiant Elk’s backstory. I was intending to save it as the bonus vignette for the Volume 3 book. She’s graciously agreed to send it to me early as a WIP. If I can get that in time, I’m going to upload that while Julie gets ahead on Chapter 15. That’s more Defiant Elk, which can’t be bad, right?
