Art Contest Rules
Entry Requirements
- Please submit entries via email to artcontest@snowbynight.com before 12 a.m. EST on (UPDATED) Saturday March 15, 2014.
- For each entry, you must include your:
- Legal name
- Pen name (if applicable, and please let us know if you prefer to have this name used in the competition)
- Studio name (if applicable)
- Email address
- Portfolio site (this is optional)
- Each entry must illustrate at least one character from Snow by Night. Any character is available, including those in the vignettes. You may include more than one at your discretion.
- NEW! The theme for this year’s competition is Alchemy. Submitted art must incorporate the theme in some manner. We’re taking a broad view of alchemy to include processes, theory, the elements, and more. Feel free to reference the Alchemy entry in the Almanac for more information.
- Entries shall be submitted in .jpg format at 300 dpi. The illustrations may be no larger than 8 1/2”x 11” (either landscape or portrait). They can be smaller at your discretion.
Contest Rules
Please review the following rules for the contest. Violation of any of these rules will result in disqualification from the contest without notification.
- You may only enter one piece of art into the contest. If you submit more than one, we will only consider your latest entry. Multiple artists from the same studio can each enter an illustration.
- You must be 18 years old or older to enter into the contest. By submitting your entry, you are affirming that you are aged 18 years or older.
- By submitting your entry, you are granting Mythmakers LLC (the studio behind Snow by Night) an unlimited world-wide non-revokable permanent license to use the submitted art in any form and in any media.
- By submitting your entry, you are affirming that the art is your own creation and you have all rights to the art contained in the entry.
- Please do not include characters who are the intellectual property of third parties (especially large corporations with lots of attorneys). You may include your own original characters at your discretion.
- Please keep all entries safe for work. Snow by Night is a PG13 comic. No graphic violence, gore, sex, or profanity please.
- You may sell submitted art as long as you credit Snow by Night on the art and link back to www.snowbynight.com in any descriptions you post of the art.
Contest Mechanics
- The Art Contest is a single-elimination tournament.
- Each entry will compete against another entry in a voting contest. The Mythmakers staff has full discretion in placing the entries in the brackets.
- There will be a voting round to determine the initial placement of the entries in the brackets.
- If more than 64 for entries are submitted, the Mythmakers staff will select the entries for competition from the pool of submitted entries.
- Voting will be through a voting portal located at www.snowbynight.com/artcontest.html. Winners will advance to the next round of the tournament.
- Voting is restricted to one vote per day per IP address. Voting for each round of the bracket will last six days, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Monday and ending on Saturday at midnight.
- NEW! The contest deadline has been extended to March 15. The first round of voting begins on Monday March 17, 2013. Each subsequent round begins on the following Monday.
Prizes
The top eight entries of the contest will receive cash prizes as follows:
5th place through 8th place - $25
3rd and 4th place - $50
2nd place - $100
1st place - $150
Winners will be paid via check (mailed through 1st class mail) or via Paypal at the winner’s discretion.
